December Winter Market this Saturday!

This Saturday, December 5th is our 2nd winter market at the La Crescent Community Center, located at 336 S 1st Street.
It's a busy weekend in La Crescent with several other shopping opportunities.
Remember to bring along an item or two for the Food Shelf.
Market hours are 10-2. Join us for a cup of coffee, cider or better yet, stop by and have lunch!

Be sure to attend the December Winter Market!

For those of you who made it to our first Winter Market day, thanks for joining us! There were some fantastic things available, even tomatoes and peppers from Tapestry Gardens greenhouse! Out on a Limb, Esther Heyer and family had lefse, apple fruit leather,pies,pears, plus so much more.
Go Boy Dough served up a mean bowl of Chili with jewish rye bread, along with some yummy baked goods.
There were canned goods, fabric accessories, jewelry, free food samples, indian corn, fudge, honey and a great lunch consisting of egg rolls, chicken stir fry and fried rice!
See what you missed? Be sure to join us next month as we should have some added vendors. You might take time to buy a few presents for those on your shopping list too!

Winter Market is a go!!

The La Crescent Farmers Market will run two market days. One in November and one in December! Isn't that great news? You'll be able to pick up everything but the turkey for Thanksgiving day!! Plus so much more.
Join us next Saturday, November 14th at the La Crescent Community Center, located at 336 S 1st, in the back of the Fire Department building. Hours of operation will be 10- 2.
There will be potatoes, apples, pears, squash, garlic, canned goods, baked goods, honey, jams and jellies, bird houses, bird and squirrel feeders, fabric accessories, knit and crocheted items, soaps, lotions, egg rolls, and so much more!
Mark your calendars! and keep Saturday, December 5th open too, for the 2nd market!

Vendor Contacts and Possible Winter Market Days!

We're pleased to announce that we have a spreadsheet listing of vendors that will have a wide selection of homegrown produce available for purchase now that the market season has come to an end, plus a few vendors on the list will have special items that will make wonderful gifts for the upcoming holidays or just to treat yourself!

Tuesday, September 29, Simple Rogues will be performing at the market, plus, we're setting up a mini food court with seating so you can stay awhile and visit or just enjoy the atmosphere!
Our famous face painters will there too along with the vendors displaying the freshest fruits and vegetables, meats and hand made items.

How did summer fly by so fast? Only 4 weeks left of our market, but plan to join us on September 29th for Simple Rogues and October 6 for Mr. Blink as we wind down for the season. Also, on the 29th we'll have a spinning demonstration. Be sure to join us!

Apple Annies sing at 5:45

The Annies will perform from 5:45 to 6:15, Tuesday, September 1st! What a great kick off for September. Applefest is right around the corner, and these ladies will get everyone in the mood!
Face painting will also be available for the kids along with a wonderful selection of vegetables, fruits, bird feeders and houses, egg rolls, bison, naturally raised beef, crocheted and knit items, baked goods, honey, apples (of course!), jewelry, soaps, lotions, handmade modern accessories and gifts, bbq sauces in several varieties, and many other wonderful items to numerous to mention!

Egg Rolls and so much more!

Who would think that you could buy egg rolls at a Farmers Market? That is just one of the specialty items available weekly here in La Crescent. Beautiful jewelry, eggs, honey, soaps and lotions, luggage tags (may you never lose sight of that black suitcase again!), a wonderful book for children, written by Audrey Alfson from Hokah and illustrated by a La Crescent local, fresh squeezed lemonade, crocheted and knit items, and tons of fresh vegetables, apples, and raspberries. Soon melons and squash will become available too! Won't you join us?

Apples and Sweet Corn!

Some of the first apples of the season were at the market this week! And sweet corn is making it's presence as well! All of the produce is looking fantastic, so be sure to stop weekly so that you don't miss out on these wonderful seasonal items. National Farmers Market Week Celebration!

We hope that those of you who joined us on June 9th, enjoyed the music of Mike and John Caucutt also known as Mr. Blink. They were great and added a nice touch to the market. The plan is to have music the first Tuesday of each month.
Strawberries and sugar snap peas, buffalo products, modern handmade accessories and gifts, crocheted items, plus home made jams, jellies, soaps and lotions, and all of the other early crops were just a few of the items available.

Spring Radish Spread

1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 T. chopped green onions (or chives)
1 tsp. chopped fresh dill
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. finely chopped radishes

Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate 1-2 hours. Serve with crackers, bagels, or bread.

If you have a favorite recipe for some of the early spring items at the market, like asparagus, rhubarb, radishes, or greens, please feel free to bring them to the market. We'll pass them on to customers and the recipes will also be posted on our website.
